Since 2024, Beyond Dance of Lynnfield has inspired young dancers through creativity and movement at its original studio on Centre Court. With over 200 enrolled dancers and growing demand, the client sought to expand operations into a second unit within the same plaza to accommodate larger classes, additional studios, and enhanced amenities.
The new 2,200 sf at 6 Centre Court will feature three fully equipped dance studios, a private office, a spacious enclosed waiting area with cubbies, and a break room and restrooms conveniently located in the rear of the space. The design also provides dedicated storage for trampolines and mats to support Acro classes, a key component of the studio’s programming.
The primary challenge was transforming a standard retail shell into a high-performance dance facility that balances sound control, safety, and functionality — all within a limited footprint and an ambitious timeline for a September 2025 opening. RWH Architect needed to carefully plan circulation and space allocation to allow three simultaneous classes while ensuring comfort for both dancers and spectators.
RWH Architect worked closely with the client and landlord, utilizing base CAD drawings to efficiently develop a layout that maximizes every square foot. The design strategically places studios along the perimeter to isolate sound and vibration, while positioning common areas and storage for easy access and supervision.
To maintain brand consistency and performance quality, the new studios will feature the same black Marley dance flooring used in the original space, ensuring a professional and cohesive aesthetic across both locations. Durable vinyl tile flooring in the common areas offers low maintenance and a polished appearance suitable for high traffic.
Through thoughtful spatial planning and attention to detail, RWH Architect created a design that supports Beyond Dance’s continued growth — providing dancers, parents, and instructors with a welcoming, functional, and inspiring environment to move and create.
